Hi!
Long time, no post.
I'm asking about the SPN convention because I swear some of my old NFFR pals had gone to them before....and I was wondering what they are like. In particular, the kinds of vendors that are there.
I'm looking to get into the convention circuit to sell art prints-- this year is all about research and producing work. I've been to a couple of comic cons, local expos, exchanging info with local illustrators and artists that make a living selling art at these things.
I'm also trying to find a market-- and I know these Supernatural cons pop up here and there....and I wanted to get a better sense of the vibe and what kind of vendors sell there. There's not too much information out there (other than the vendor table guidelines which say you can't sell unlicensed promo photos..etc) so anyone who's been....enlighten me!

That being said- My latest painting "Heaven, Hell, and the Impala" - Acrylic and gold leaf: http://heverus.tumblr.com/post/62558668304/18x24-in-acrylic-and-gold-leaf-many-of-the

Selling Art Prints

I've just put together a new store on Society6 to sell prints (and iphone cases) of my art. Right now I have some Firefly, Breaking Bad, Community, and Game of Thrones- I'll be adding more soon. So...uh...I guess check it out! :)

In Case You Missed It...

It's so dumb, but I'm still nerding out about it.

Photobucket

I'm just floored by the great response I've received since posting my costume photos. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to pull it off....
My favorite comment someone left was "Rule 63 - Achieved." Talk about a compliment and a half! Haha.

Heroine of Canton

Man, I must seem like a crazy person on LJ, utterly obsessed, and...ughhh.
I wasn't originally supposed to dress up like Jayne for Halloween. A bunch of us were going to be different resources from the Settlers of Catan (I was going to be "wood", so I had a lumberjack outfit picked out)-- but alas, one of the core members of our group had to work on our Halloween outing night, and so we put that idea to rest. Then I thought about pulling out my old Lara Croft costume, but unless you're going to a "safe" party, dressing like that can get you some unwanted attention. So I said fuck it- I'll be Jayne! Yeah >:O
I have some pics posted over on tumblr: http://heverus.tumblr.com/post/34599334790/my-jayne-cobb-halloween-costume-with-my-own
My husband suggested the poses.
Afterwards I said, "Why did you have me hold the gun over my shoulders? No one holds a gun like that."
He responded, "Because it looks sexy."
"...but it's totally impractical..."

Men. Heh.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Shepherd Book ran his fingers along the weathered pages of his Bible and then tucked it snuggly beneath his arm. Folding his hands behind his back, he wove down the halls, keeping his pace slow and composed to be considerate of the late hour. He knew how footsteps could echo and amplify through Serenity- there were many-a-night where he lie awake in his bunk listening to the captain pace restlessly along the galley. But it wasn't the captain so restlessly stomping around the kitchen this time, and quietly avoiding the dining room, Book resolved that he would beard that lion later.

I posed for this photo with the intention of doing a self-portrait painting, but I'm posting the photo here because I sort of love it. And yes, I go shooting in my Firefly shirt.

New Painting - Breaking Bad

Oh hai there Heisenberg! Acrylic on Wood.

I write like...

Phew- I've actually had time to sit down this weekend and do NOTHING. It's been a while. My brain has been mush, so unfortunately I didn't get any writing done (I haven't abandoned my Firefly fic, I swear!) but in my mush-brained state of relaxitude, I ran each chapter of Namesake through the I Write Like analysis tool just to see if there were any consistancies matching my writing to a famous author...and J.D. Salinger came up the most. Which I find extra interesting since he went to my college (and dropped out after a semester...and at the time he was said to have been "the worst English student in the history of the college.") Other repeats were Mark Twain and James Joyce. So. There you have it.

It's also nice to see that NFFR is being kept alive somewhat through the LJ community. Though I don't really consider myself in the fandom anymore, I still value the people I've met and I hope to still stay in touch-- with no forums, I'll have to check in to LJ more often. :)

New painting

This one is acrylic on MDF with a bit of iron paint that I rusted for that nice, grungy effect. The size is 7 1/2"x14".
